CSR Initiatives: Swachh Bharat
|
|

Hon'ble Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modiji in his Independence
Day speeches has spoken about the urgency of the existing sanitation
situation within India. He has launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to clean up
India and eliminate open defecation by 2019. World Bank
has given an $1.5 billion loan for Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan. Under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the Indian Government has spent ₹ 9,093
Crores on building about 1.8 Crore toilets since October 2014. As per NSSO,
just 42.5%
of rural households have water for use in toilets and 44.4%
of villages have no arrangement to dispose of liquid waste; critical
factors that could make or break the most well laid plan for hygiene. India has a
serious sanitation challenge; around 60% of the worlds open defecation takes
place in India. Poor sanitation causes health hazards including diarrhea,
particularly in the children under 5 years of age, malnutrition and
deficiencies in physical development and cognitive ability. To take up
sanitation in fast track and to more systematically address implementation
issues, the Government of India launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or the Clean
India Campaign an integrated approach to water, sanitation and hygiene to
make the country ODF. The Arogyagram Swachh Bharat initiative has been
launched with an aim to augment our Prime Ministers mission Swachh Bharat
Abhiyan. Arogyagram aims to improve hygiene among the masses and curtail
ailments caused on account of dearth of proper sanitation facilities in the
country. Lack of toilets is more than just a sanitation problem. Therefore,
Arogyagram is offering economic and sustainable designs for toilets for the
Swachh Bharat program. Our designs look to optimize the resource utilization
of water, power and drainage requirements. Presently we are working on to create a low water usage
flush toilet and sewage treatment of human excreta. We are working on to
attached biogas generation module to toilets and enabling the sewage become
an asset instead of a nuisance. Our proposed solution for human excreta management in a
biogas plant will give three benefits health, energy and organic manure. Thus
turning the waste into
wealth. Our concept is to convert human waste
into energy which can be used at the rural level for simple functions like
cellular phone and electronic device charging. |
